ABOUT NOTTINGHAM VETSOC

Welcome to VetSoc - "Sutton Bonington's largest and most active society"

VetSoc is SB’s largest and most active society and our aim is to promote community spirit amongst our members and involvement in the wider veterinary profession.

Through our great sponsors we are able to offer a variety of awesome events throughout the year at bargain prices. We try to provide a range of events to cater for all tastes and give a chance for Vet students to get together to unwind and have fun outside the Vet School.

VetSoc has more to offer than just Socials. Our Clinical Club provides a range of talks from specialists in numerous areas of the veterinary profession.

Joining VetSoc automatically makes you a member of AVS, IVSA, and gives you the option of joining our sub-committees NFAVS, NSAVS, and NEVS.

EVENTS

Vet Soc offers a huge range of events that are sure to suit all tastes. Vet Soc members benefit from discounted tickets plus exclusive members-only events. There are loads of ways to get involved and we are always looking for new events and traditions to promote integration between year groups

The annual Vet Ball and awards ceremony is the highlight of the Vet Soc social calendar. The evening includes champagne reception at the Vet School, transport to and from the venue, 3 course meal, speeches and awards, live band and DJ. Discounts on tickets for Vet Soc members.

HALFWAY WEEKEND

Halfway weekend is a Notts Vet School tradition to celebrate reaching the halfway point of your veterinary training. The format for the weekend is determined by the organising committee and in the past has included outdoor pursuits, formal dinners and karaoke! The weekend marks a real milestone and is certainly a weekend to remember. Discount tickets are available to Vet Soc members only!

FRESHERS' WEEK

Freshers' week is sure to be jam packed with events organised by the week one team. VetSoc’s Wild West themed Ceilidh is an annual fixture of both SB Fresher's and Returner's weeks and is a great way for freshers and returners to get acquainted.

In Freshers' week we also host our BVLV hog-roast - more information on this can be found under the BVLV tab.

Fresher's should also look forward to the Vet Soc Welcome Party – our little way of making you feel a real member of the Vet School family. A fun packed afternoon of challenges followed by the legendary Rumble in the Jungle event!

FUNDRAISING

Charity is becoming a more integral part of VetSoc every year. With our newly appointed Charity Officer and our close links with Vets in the Community we are excited to host a number of fundraising events throughout the coming year.

SB TOUGH FARMER

This mud run style event sees groups of students tackle a 5km obstacle course, including horse jumps, paddling pool 'sheep-dips' and welly throwing! It was hugely successful in 2016  with our participants raising over £200  for PDSA and we hope to have even more participants and raise even more money in 2017.

ROBIN HOOD RUN

VetSoc members are entering into this Nottingham charity event to raise money for Vets in the Community, a student organisation offering free healthcare to pets whose owners are homeless. Make sure you come along and show your support!
