NFAVS

Nottingham Farm Animal VetSoc Subdivision

What We Are

We're a Clinical Club subdivision of VetSoc committed to bringing undergrad farm veterinary teaching one step further, closer to what is necessary for our future farm vets when they enter practice.

Our aim is to provide extra teaching, trips and information for students who want to go into farm practice, and to bridge that gap that inevitably occurs between what we’re taught in lectures and working in real life practice.

We are keen to express that all of our events are open to everybody, from complete novices in this area to those hoping to pursue a career in the industry. Our aim is to keep our members up to date with the latest in the world of farm animal veterinary medicine and provide them with skills which will allow you to stand out on placements and into your postgraduate careers. We will do this by organising talks and practicals from subject leaders, farm walks around local farms to put your ever expanding knowledge into real life scenarios and debate evenings on the hot topics. In previous years talks have ranged from mastitis control to flock health planning to laparoscopic LDA corrections!

Our events are open to all VetSoc members, just sign up free for NFAVS once you have paid your VetSoc fee and you can be involved!

NFAVS is run by Rhys Hopkins (Coordinator), Freddie Watchorn (Deputy coordinator) and Charlotte Tickner (Financial Officer). If you have any queries or would like advice in this area please feel free to contact us.
