IVSA

"IVSA is a really friendly society and are always looking to get people on board!"

The International Veterinary Student Association (IVSA) was established in Denmark in 1951, with the aim of globally uniting students in the advancement of Veterinary Medicine through the exchange of knowledge and education.

Since then it has expanded to over 50 chapters, representing different Vet Schools across the world. The Vet School here at Nottingham is part of IVSA UK and Ireland chapter, and YOU as a member of AVS are automatically a member of IVSA!

Two main events occur—the Winter Symposium and Summer Congress, enabling veterinary students from the all over the world to congregate in one country. It also proudly supports both a Scholarship Fund and Development Fund granting great opportunities to students and vet schools in underdeveloped countries.

Key events to look out for are the Exchange programmes with other vet schools in different countries. More information about how to get involved will follow in your first year. For more information now please visit www.ivsa.org and www.ivsa.co.uk.

Since its establishment, IVSA Nottingham has been organising various exchanges with other vet schools across Europe, so far hosting students from Madrid, Slovenia and Austria. The exchanges not only allow the hosts the opportunity to showcase their vet school but they can then also experience life as a vet student in another country.

A large component of IVSA Nottingham is spent fundraising for exchanges as well as the IVSA Development Fund, which supports vet schools in other countries by providing equipment and books. So far, we have been busy with various cake sales and have lots of raffle and social events booked to encourage new and old students to join. IVSA is a fantastic association to be part of allowing you the chance to explore new cities and meet some fantastic people. Look out for Jim Bear our IVSA mascot who comes everywhere with us!
